Curriculum

The following courses, which make up the Graduate Certificate in Medical Sciences degree, are *recommended for M.S. students in the Medical Sciences Graduate Program:

• BIOM 5122 Intro Survey Human Structure
• BIOM 5616 Graduate Biomedical Physiology
• BIOM 5215 Medical Biochemistry
• BIOM 5316 Medical Microbiology and Immunology

*flexible substitutions for recommended courses are made by a student’s Faculty Advisory Committee during a student’s second semester.

In addition to these recommended courses, students must take additional coursework as described below:

• M.S. non-thesis: 32 credit hours total (30 hours of coursework and 2 hours of capstone)
• A capstone project would be an independent study project (2 credit hours) aligned with the individual student’s academic and career goals.

• Completed Baccalaureate degree
• GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
• Completed coursework in the physical and life sciences (e.g., biology and chemistry)
• Submit Statement of Purpose describing your personal career goals and how the master’s degree will support those goals, as well as a brief description of experience or qualifications.
• International students for whom English is a second language are required to have earned a Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of at least 550 (213 computer based or 79 Internet based).

Full-time students typically complete the 32-credit hour program in two years. Students are encouraged to enroll full-time and complete the degree requirements within a maximum of seven years.
