Mast Cell Activation in COVID-19 Study

Frequently Asked Questions
- What is this research about?
The purpose of this research is to determine how a type of immune cell called a mast cell is affected by recently having COVID-19. We want to know if biological indicators of mast cell activation are higher when you have recently gotten over COVID and whether this relates to your sickness symptoms or any lingering symptoms of COVID you might be experiencing.
- Who is eligible?
We are seeking adult women between over the age of 18 in the Tulsa, OK area who
- Tested positive for COVID-19 within the past 28 days; AND
- Have not had a fever in the past 24 hours
OR
- Have not been sick in the past 30 days; AND
- Do not have long-COVID symptoms
Other criteria apply. Fill out the screener survey to see if you qualify.
- What will I have to do?
You will be scheduled for a single visit to the Hardesty Center for Clinical Research and Neuroscience (map). The visit will last approximately 1-2 hours.
Participation will include:
- Informed Consent
- Mental and Physical Health Assessments
- Biosample Collection
- Surveys
Three months after your visit, we will ask you to complete a short follow up survey, taking about 15 minutes.
*Note: No medicine/drug, vaccine, or any other treatment will be administered as part of the study.
- How Much will I be paid?
You will be compensated $50 for completion of the study. Partial payments will be made for partial completion.
