Disclosure of Other Support
Policy Update: Effective October 1, 2025
In alignment with NIH Notice NOT-OD-25-133, OSU Center for Health Sciences (OSU-CHS) has implemented updated policies to ensure compliance with federal requirements for disclosure of Other Support and training. These policies apply to all Senior/Key Personnel involved in federally funded research.

- What Must Be Disclosed?
- Domestic and foreign research funding
- In-kind contributions (e.g., lab space, equipment, personnel)
- Appointments and affiliations (paid or unpaid)
- Significant financial interests
- Potential conflicts of interest (Refer to OSU CHS Policy #9-70003: Conflict of Interest)
- Exemptions: Gifts and prizes not associated with specific research activities

- How do I submit disclosures?
Use sponsor-specific formats like NIH’s Other Support template or NSF’s SciENcv. Submit at proposal, JIT, RPPR, or when changes occur.
If the disclosure is a potential or perceived conflict of interest, disclose this in COI-Smart in compliance with OSU CHS Policy #9-70003: Conflict of Interest. When a conflict is identified, it is referred to the OSU-CHS Conflict of Interest (COI) Committee for further evaluation and resolution. All Senior/Key Personnel involved in federally funded research must complete Research Security training.
- When does the Training Need to be Completed By?
- Prior to proposal submission, or
- Within 30 days of being newly added to an existing award (best practice)
- Individuals must have completed training within 12 months prior to the proposal submission date.
- How Long Does the Training Take to Complete? Approximately 60 minutes. This training is shorter than the 4-hour long training modules offered through NSF.
- How Often Does Training Need to be Completed? Annually. A refresher course is available in CITI.
- What Training Should be Completed?
To login/register, follow these steps:
- Sign in to an existing CITI account or start a new account. If you start a new account, be sure to use your OSU email address and associate your account with OSU Center for Health Sciences.
- Navigate to your “My Courses” page and scroll down to the bottom where you will see “Add a Course”
- Select “Research Security”
- Select “Research Security Training (Combined Course) A condensed and combined single-module course based on the NSF’s Research Security Training”.
- What happens if I fail to disclose Other Support?Non-compliance may result in sponsor-imposed penalties, suspension or termination of awards, and institutional disciplinary action.
- What if I am added to a project mid-year?You must complete the training within 30 days of being added to the award.
