Collaborative Care
OSU Behavioral Medicine & Family Medicine
In 2022, the Department was awarded a five-year HRSA grant to train post-doctoral level health service psychologists, and master of social work graduates, through a collaborative care approach to treatment. Collaborative Care is a team-based, population-based approach to care that coordinates the services of care managers, primary care providers, and psychiatry consultation. The training program provides a high-quality and evidence-based experience for post-doctorate psychologists to gain skills working effectively within integrated care systems. The program includes a yearlong, full-time experience for trainees focused on the provision of supervised clinical services, area-specific trainings, and study opportunities within the primary care, addiction, and psychiatry outpatient care settings.
Through the grant, Dr. Brian Goetsch, Dr. Sara Coffey, and Dr. Matthew Fowler, provide clinical and didactic-based training, as well as actively participate in providing collaborative care to patients. Project manager, Margo Burgard, and Behavioral Medicine Clinic Administrator, Matthew Yelle, work to support and programmatically manage this endeavor.
