SEEDS (STEM Education to Enhance Diversity in Science) encourages undergraduate students, to learn more about a career in biomedical research.
At least two students will be selected for the Summer SEEDS Internship Program and will spend six to eight weeks in June and July at OSU Center for Health Sciences in Tulsa conducting research in a Biomedical Sciences lab under the supervision of one of our skilled faculty members. The interns will also work closely with graduate students, as well as fellow undergraduate students and possibly high school students on occasion.
By the end of the internship program, participants will have built upon their science, math and communications skills, and will have a familiarity with research ethics and career options in the field. The internship will culminate in a poster presentation.
Interns will also take part in a luncheon celebrating diversity among researchers where high school, undergraduate, graduate students as well as and faculty are encouraged to bring food showcasing their culture. There will also be a Family Day where interns’ family and friends are invited to tour the OSU-CHS laboratories, meet researchers and see what the students have been working on during their internship.
Application
Due to COVID-19 and uncertainty about the status of whether the campus will be open to outside individuals, the opening of date for applications has been pushed back to mid-March in the hopes that the campus will reopen. We will post more information on the status of the summer internship program as soon as more information is available.
Eligibility requirements:
Students applying to the SEEDS internship program must meet the following requirements:
- 18 years of age (minimum)
- Have at least a 2.5 GPA in upper-level science courses
- Be enrolled in an undergraduate institution
- Interested in learning, especially about biomedical sciences
- Meet any other requirements listed on the application form
