M.S. in Forensic Sciences - Forensic Chemistry/Toxicology
The Master of Forensic Science with a concentration in forensic chemistry/toxicology. This program is designed for individuals pursuing a career as a forensic chemist, forensic toxicologist, or instructor. All graduates from this track are successfully employed in forensic or clinical laboratories or have entered advanced degree programs upon degree completion.
Program Format
This track is offered fully online and the majority of students are non-thesis (32 minimum credit hours). Students may pursue a thesis with faculty permission (30 minimum credit hours including 6 hours of FRNS 5000).
Admission
Recommended college majors include physical or natural sciences, such as biology, chemistry or biochemistry. Students should have a year of general and a year of organic chemistry.
Applications are considered year-round on a space-available basis. Application materials must be submitted through the OSU Graduate College.

Degree Requirements -
- Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 30 graduate credit hours for thesis track, 32 for non-thesis.
- Satisfactory completion of a thesis, research project, or comprehensive examination
- Must maintain a 3.0 or better GPA
- 7 years maximum time to complete the program. Most students complete this program in 2 years.
Thesis Requirement -
- Requires prior approval from faculty advisor
- 6 required credit hours must be dedicated to research (FRNS 5000)
- Students will publish, present and defend their thesis during their final semester
