Pediatric Obesity
In collaboration with the OSU Human Performance and Nutrition Research Institute, get expert knowledge of best practices in a virtual learning network with a multidisciplinary team of obesity medicine specialists. The curriculum is designed to enhance comprehension and care capacity for medical providers and school health professionals through evidence-based knowledge sharing and case-based learning to support children and families to lead healthier lives.
Who Should Participate?
Pediatric health care providers, dietitians, clinical and school nurses, care managers, behavioral health providers, school counselors & psychologists, health and wellness educators, health care and school administrators, public health professionals, and schools or providers in rural or underserved populations who need support and/or lack resources needed to promote student health and well-being.

Every Tuesday, 12:00-1:15PM CST. One-time OSU Project ECHO registration required.

Why Pediatric Obesity?
- Nearly 70% of Oklahoma adults are overweight or obese
- Nearly one in five Oklahoma children are obese
- The majority of Oklahomans are physically inactive
- Most Oklahomans do not consume enough fruits and vegetables
- Oklahomans experience high rates of diabetes, hypertension, and cardiovascular disease
- The leading causes of death in Oklahoma are preventable

- Food Insecurity/Scarcity
- Weight-Based Victimization
- Therapeutic Approaches to the Prevention, Assessment, & Treatment of Obesity
- Family-Based Health Interventions
- Behavioral Strategies to Support Change
- Community Advocacy and Coalition
- Co-Occurring Conditions: Asthma, Allergies, Sleep Apnea, etc.

Our multidisciplinary team has over 50 years of combined experience in obesity prevention and treatment. The team consists of a board-certified obesity medicine physician, licensed clinical psychologist, registered dietitian, health education specialist, clinical pharmacist, and an obesity certified physician’s assistant.
